Lundy Island

Lundy Island Guided Climbing Trips

Lundy is a real mecca for climbers, offering top quality multi pitch granite sea cliff climbing set in a fantastic isolated location. The island is 3 miles long & ½ mile wide and is situated 12 miles out in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of North Devon, it is home to a small group of permanent residents and it allows a limited amount of visitors, there are no cars or roads (except the islands land rover and tractor) it offers a real retreat from the outside world, add this to the fact that it can only be reached via a 2 hour ferry crossing from Ilfracombe or Bideford between April & October or helicopter from Hartland point for the remainder of the year it gives a real feel of adventure.

The island has a charm of its own and as well as the attraction of the climbing, the Island is a nature reserve, it see’s many migratory birds and is home thousands of seabirds as well as a large colony of seals, it is also a marine conservation zone and with a pair of binoculars offers superb opportunities for walking and wildlife spotting as well as excellent snorkelling opportunities.

Although you can climb year round there are nesting restrictions from March to August but many cliffs remain open giving hundreds of top quality routes to choose from, including the legendary and much photographed DEVILS SLIDE & SATANS SLIP which is a classic 120m granite friction slab rising straight out of the sea.

So if you are looking for a really unique climbing/holiday experience and an escape from the rat race for a few days please feel free to contact us for further information, and give us the pleasure of guiding you on some of the best sea cliffs routes anywhere, it truly is a climbers dream.

Get plenty of climbing from your days on the best routes at your chosen grade.
